Essay #2: The perfect life is not always the reason for happiness.

Most of the people that we meet including us live trying to find the true love and happiness. Happiness can be defined in different ways, that’s what happens in the story “Girl” and “Happy Ending”. In both stories the authors where reaching for that happiness in their characters. People around the main characters always wanted to push them to have the perfect life in different ways. Life is a complicated thing for everyone, no matters who you are or where you come from, at the end is hard and you have to fight for what you have, in both stories the author focus on this type of message. Even that love is not perfect, the authors focus on making both stories so perfect that at the end the readers richest the point were noting is perfect in life, love and happiness and is always complicated for everyone, even in this two stories.

Love can be express in different ways. Both stories present love as the most important thing for any individual in life. In the story “Girl” the love is presented as her mom believing that the perfect way to have a great life is instructing her daughter to learn how to be a great wife and pleasing others. In “Happy Ending” the author presents us with all the particular situations where love affects a couple leading them to confrontations and struggle to find happy ending to some of the characters. Also in “Happy Ending” the author allow us to choose which of the love endings better fix us.

In the story “Girl” we can see that her mom care about her and want her to have a perfect life and be the perfect woman. The problem was that this was not the way to educate some one. Maybe what the mother defines as perfect is not what the daughter wants. At the story we can see how constantly the mother told her daughter how to do everything; we can understand that always parents want the best for their children, but sometimes the love is so blind they don’t even know their own kids desires. The love presented at “Girl” is the type in which at the end makes people fight with their relatives for years and have that part of their life incomplete.

“Happy Ending” presents us with different alternatives of love. The author give us the same characters in different situations to show us how life can be change for the actions we make. Also in that same line the author presented the characters killing themselves or one to another, because of love consequences. The love and care in this story was more about different expectation but with the same ending, the perfect life for “John and Mary” and the perfect ending were for us readers to decide.

Both authors focus on one message: Love. One of the similitudes in the stories is how to reach for that love and how people affect that goal. The stories try to reach us by dramatizing the characters to let us know they where in control of their destiny and in some occasions loose that control. The road to reach happiness in both stories is affected by others, but both authors give us the weapon to finish the story of their characters giving them their happiness. At the end love was the strongest feeling that was related in both story there character.

Both stories are very different but at the end we can see that the authors where looking for a similar message. In “Girl” what really call my attention, was the way that her mom wanted her to be so perfect for someone else that she even forget about the feeling of her daughter. Also in “Happy Ending” we can see how in some stories the character loose control of the love and respect they felt and took actions that wasn’t the best ones. What call my attention in both story is the way that the authors let us see what happens when we let others influence in our life and giving the message that we shall not let someone or something finish with who we are and what we want.

At the end the message was that we can control our happy ending just as we control the ending at the end of both stories. It’s true that in life we cry, suffer, smile, get nervous but all those experiences are part of reaching our happy ending and love can gave us or take away that strength from us if we don’t control it.
